We are involved in a situation at present that is very ugly. Sony music out of Frankfurt,Germany has intentions of releasing a cover/trance version of our underground hit record "Jaguar" UR-049. A cover version is usually done 10-15 years after the original release of a record, and it is usually an attempt by the covering artist to pay tribute to the original artist and compliment them on their work. This situation is very different since UR would not fold and license this record to anyone( we have had over forty requests none btw from SONY) these assholes have simply commisioned 2 cheesy trance dj's from frankfurt to do a note for note duplicate of our record because they felt more people need to here it!!! they have no permission from us and I dont think this is being done to compliment UR - this is just plain and simple corporate stealing! I think their strategy is that we will pop up and say Hey what are you guys doin? and then they will silence us w/a blood money pay-off. Well that is not going to be the case we are lock and loading and preparing for war all fiber optic commandos are on alert! Unless Sony Music gives UR an open apology in all major press we will have no choice but to defend ourselves and not only ourselves but the whole of underground music! I intend on showing them that these wars will not be fought in the unfair conditions of their courtrooms where their corporate lawyers have an advantage! these wars will be fought in the new arena -- out here in deep space where the playing feild is more level. I hope you and the brave warriors of your clan can assist us as we are musicians w/no muscle we can only implant ideas via music. which we will continue to do but a co-ordinated effort of the underground global community will be needed to attack such a giant nemesis as Sony. Dirk did an excellent job of diverting the attack so that he could make another move. Can any of us question that he profited nicely from his deal with BMG? This whole situation has done nothing to stop him, and he's sitting behind his desk smiling. Here's some forwarded info... In the new german dance charts the Jaguar is on #4 with the label BMG no longer Sony! BMG make a deal with the coverversion producers after Sony has cancelld the record. They will do more club and radiopromotion and advertising and give a videoclip to Viva Television. Sony send out a statement to the press and the promotion company Public Propaganda DJs before christmas telling the story. It is printed in Raveline. I did not expect Sony to be as 'cool' to react to the emails from the underground. They let go a sure commerciell hit to a competition company. Let's see if BMG is tougher. Check the webside, Bertelsmann or contact Sascha Ritter. DJ Bassdrum 909 ...so Dirk, Sascha, and the boneheads from Cologne, all of them are feeling pretty smart.
