From an early age Dj Bins was open to and appreciated many different types of Music. Anything from Adam and the Ants to Evelyn Champagne King, (it was his love of Disco that really inspired him.) During the late 70s and early 80s, it was Black music from the USA that was dictating what was fresh and new. It was his two elder brothers (David & Paul) that brought the more Electronic sounds to his attention. The Radio was always tuned onto LWR and other Pirate Radio stations, pumping out the new Electro grooves. Although Bins always had a bias for all things electronic, Electro really woke him up to the future sounds being created by the new producers. Like most other youngsters of that time, he perfected his body popping and breakdance moves. (On many occasions getting caught by his Mother, practising moves in front of her mirror.) Frequenting Covent Garden, he hung out with the B-boyz and B-Girlz, making a bit of cash, showing the Tourists dance moves. Although not being old enough, he went out at night to Clubs like, The Electric Ballroom, Spats, etc. Where the freshest Electro beats were played and where different crews showed off their latest dance moves. It was a tribal thing, if you liked Electro you went to Covent Garden on the weekends and went to these select Clubs. When Dj Bins first realised that Electronic Music had touched his soul, was when he began to hear future music from producers such as Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Blake Baxter, etc. Slowly but surely, he ventured out to a few Hardcore Raves. The Rave scene was just beginning, a new sound, style of clothing, and not least a new way of partying. Then came the seminal moment, Bins got taken by his eldest brother to a local rave. It was at the Rocket (north London), with it being so local Bins was reluctant to go, but he did. It was a night called The Pirate Club, Djs such as Evil Eddie Richards, Frankie Shag Bones, Nicky Blackmarket etc supplied lush House and Techno grooves. With a major emphasis on most tracks played, holding a heavy Jazz ingredient. When Bins heard Mr C dropping House tracks like Ultra Nate: Scandal, Black Dog: Virtual, accompanied by the svelte tones of MC Moose. He made up his mind there and then, he wanted to play the sweetest Deep House and Techno available. To start off with Bins, his eldest brother and some close family friends got together. They were known as Musik inc. due to the fact that throughout the outfit all electronic forms of dance were played. From throbbing Trance to Techno and furious breakbeat. Their first proper gig was for the late Frank Oliver (rip) who ran the Vision On nights at the Rocket Club. On from there Musik Inc. began to make their mark and played more underground parties both over here and in Europe. After 5 years of working and learning together they split, to concentrate on solo projects. Dj Bins decided to stick to the more deep and sexy Tech-House and Funky Techno side of things electronic. Over time he managed to make an impact, just by holding onto his musical beliefs and moving with like-minded souls. As he continued to play at more underground parties such as Sub-terrain, Analogue City and Altered States, he became known for his deep and organic Dj sets. After years of playing various Pirate radio stations, he was invited to Dj a number of times on Mr Cs future music show on Kiss FM. Shortly after that came regular stints on Net Radio Gaialive and most recently Groovtech. Although Dj Bins is considered a talent, he doesnt Dj as much as he should, due to his insistence of not sucking up to promoters, getting involved in Dj/Club politics or playing rubbish, commercial records. He does continue to be booked for gigs abroad and the more open-minded promoters book him here in the UK. He has been Djing now for well over 10 years and still has a strong passion for the music and the House scene. Long live the Underground sound of House Music.
