TP's CD Release Party!
June 13, 2000

Just wanted to send Special THANX to everyone who came out to TONIC this past Sunday (June 11th, 2000). Not only was the place packed, but the vibe was REAL RIGHT all night!

Much respect to the Universal Elements Crew who drove 8 hours from Rochester New York to party with us on Sunday, and then immediately got back on the road to make it home before 10AM Monday morning! Now if that isn't REAL LOVE for the music, I don't know what is!

Again happy birthday to Cheryl, Rachel and Stephanie!

Congratulations to Sindy on her graduation!

Respect to Hugh C for working the lights, and for getting that smokin' hot Latin house tune out from the trunk of his car so I could drop it and send the crowd into complete hysteria at 1AM!

Thanx to Len The Blend Horn for bringing the Bar-B-Q dinner (real right)!

Thanx to Justin and Erica for dinner at Big Fish Too (real right) and of course for your concern and friendship!

A very special thank you to Judy Wang, who couldn't make it down from Lansing on Sunday, but still sent love by way of Cesaria Evora's "Cafe Atlantico" CD (currently number # 1 in my truck's CD rotation)!!!!!!!

Special thanx 2 Kuljit, - - - the note you sent helped to brighten my week!

Special thanx 2 Dave for . . . . the SUPER DAVE!

Finally, special thanx 2 Marc (I'm gonna get the music to you soon - I promise), Dallas (who just "Jumped The Broom" -- congratulations), and Aaron for your support of my efforts each Sunday at Tonic! I appreciate it more than you'll ever know!

peace & respect to you all!

Winners and TP Appearances
June 11, 2000

Greetings Cats!

1st - CONGRATULATIONS to all the winners of the TP Prelude To Summer Madness Give-Away (Classic TP Mix # 10, TP/Home Team T-shirt, 12 inch white vinyl of "Love's Got Me High" b/w "I Wanna F.F.U.").

These TP packs will be sent out this week!

SLAPPY'S NOTE:
TP sent this little note in email a few days later.

OK cats! I have made a HUGE mistake!

I accidentally deleted a folder in which I had the names of seven (7) of the ten (10) winners of the TP PRELUDE TO SUMMER MADNESS PACKS! The only names I still have are Sean Creen, Carl Heinrichs, and Nate Unique. So could the other seven cats (and you should know who you are), please e-mail your name and current mailing address to me ASAP. I would like to mail your packages out to you today.

MY mistake everyone. I apologize!

peace & respect,

TP

When did TP DJ his first party?

ANSWER: 1982

:-)

2nd - Tonight I will do another 5 hour DJ set (9PM to 2AM). I did not record my 5 hour set from last week. However, because so many of you asked, I will record my set this week.

3rd - We are not quite ready to broadcast on line yet. But don't worry because when we are ready to go LIVE with the webcast, it will be well worth the wait! Meanwhile, for more info about this, and other exciting new features (including MUSIC on line NOW), check out www.TONICDETROIT.com.

4th - There was a huge misunderstanding regard the after party for the live event down at St. Andrews last night (Saturday, June 10th). Because of the way the promoter made the flyers, many of you thought that I was going to be DJing at Tonic last night around 3 or 4AM. Although I did make a special guest appearance at Tonic last night from 11PM until 1:30AM, it had NOTHING to do with the event at St. Andrews.

5th - TONIC is located at 29 south Saginaw Street in downtown Pontiac Michigan.
For more info / directions call ph: 1248-334-7411, or see map on line at www.TONICDETROIT.com.

Finally . . . . Remember the drama caused due to a misunderstanding of the e-mail I wrote concerning my not DJing at the DEMF? Well, it's all love now! It's all been cleared up and it's all good. People are often too quick to talk about the mistakes which were made, and slow to speak about when cats resolve their differences and come together. I just wanted to let you all know that this particular situation, WE came together! If that doesn't symbolize the powerful afterglow and awesome spirit from this year's Detroit Electronic Music Festival, nothing will!

peace & respect,

TP

Gig in Dresden is Cancelled.
June 07, 2000

I will not be performing in Dresden Germany this Saturday June 10th 2000 due to an unfortunate set of circumstances between myself and the promoter.

peace & respect,

TP

Again, the first ten (10) cats who can answer this question will receive a TP Prelude To Summer Madness Pack.

For those of you who were not lucky enough to get the new TP Mix CD via the above mentioned giveaway, or from www.TONICDETROIT.com, it is very important for you to understand that Classic TP Double Mix CD # 10 is almost history! TP's Appearance in Kassel Germany is Cancelled
May 26, 2000

Greetings Cats!

Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control, I will not be DJing at the Stammhiem Club in Kassel Germany this coming Saturday, May 27th 2000.

I realize that I have many fans who travel for many miles / kilometers to come see and hear me spin at Stammhiem. I know they truly enjoy the music I play, and they look forward to getting one of my Classic TP Mix CDs. I am very disappointed by the fact that I will be unable to share the TP Vibe with my fans in and around the city of Kassel.

peace & respect,

TP

After Hours Party is Moving
May 24, 2000

Greetings Cats!

Last night I received word that the after party scheduled for this coming Sunday, May 28th 2000 at Club Science has been canceled. This event is currently being moved to a different location. I will update all of you as soon as this info is made available to me.

Those of you who were lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of Classic TP Mix Volume 10 Double CD package last weekend at Tonic may experience some problems playing the CDs, or may notice some distortion on programs 16 and 17. Please bring your copy back to the club, and I will give you a new copy.

I truly value and appreciate your support of the Classic TP series, and I apologize for any inconveniences you've experienced.

peace & respect,

Terrence Parker is Chillin' in Detroit
May 19, 2000

Greetings Cats!

Well, today has been an interesting day so far. I was on standby for a possible gig in North Carolina tonight. Because of all the weather related flight cancellations, apparently several of the DJs scheduled to play at this event could not make it down to North Carolina. So I was asked to fill in at the last minute. Detroit Metro Airport is currently backed up with heavy air traffic, so I wouldn't have made it out anyway. So here I am, chillin' in Detroit tonight.

Tomorrow night is the REPLAY Party here in Detroit. My set time is from Midnight to 1AM. For more info, please call 1248-975-6041.

This Sunday come prepared to VIBE with us at TONIC (located at 29 south Saginaw Street in downtown Pontiac - ph: 1248-334-7411). Next weekend (just in time for the Detroit Electronic Music Festival) log on to www.TONICDETROIT.com for the live webcasting of my DJ set. There will also be a surprise or two on the evening of May 28th. So to find out more about how TONIC fits in next weekend's festivities, come out and share the vibe with us this coming Sunday.

CLASSIC TP MIX CD VOL. # 10 will be available VERY, VERY, VERY SOON! If you are a fan of the TP mix series, you'll love this one because it gives you a "double dose". (To learn more, come out to TONIC this Sunday, May 21st). For more info, contact Renegade Rhythms.

Many of you have asked why I am not spinning at the D.E.M.F.. Well, I am spinning at Stemmhiem Club in Kassel Germany next Saturday, May 27th 2000. I will be returning on Sunday, May 28th where I will be spinning at TONIC from 11PM to 2AM, and then immediately after my set, I will spin at one of the many DEMF After Parties at Science in Detroit. I am excited about such a huge event taking place here in Detroit. Although I am not involved personally, I would hope that those of you who are able, will take advantage of this opportunity to be part of history. After all, how often do you see such an event, with a huge line up of artists & DJs, to take place over three(3) days, all for FREE??? If you want to learn more about the D.E.M.F., check out: WWW.ELECTRONICMUSICFEST.COM.

Special Happy Birthday out to the Clicksta (aka Dishon White)!

peace & respect,

TP

Terrence Parker is Playing in Iowa
May 1, 2000

ROTATION - Gabe's Oasis April 28th
Tristan Watkins(Brothas and Sistas)
Moonraker(Brothas and Sistas)
Terrence Parker(Detroit/Intangible)

Full Disclosure: I work at Rotation, doing sound, and all the people here are my friends. Those who know me know I try and tell it straight, but I want my biases out in the open.

Tristan Watkins is old school Iowa City -- not only was he the first guy to start a weekly event in a mainstream club here, he went to grade school here. So it's always great to see him back at the turntables. He started out the evening caning Chain Reaction and Basic Channel records, gradually building to a storming finish. Tristan knows how to play it for both the heads and the kids, and I think he had it both ways -- he's got nothing to prove at this point so his sets are always exploratory, risky undertakings, made more exciting on nights like Saturday when he's really in the groove and hitting the outside shots.

Moonrakker did a similar gear change in his set starting out with hip hop and ending up in drum and bass. His D&B sets have always been storming, but Saturday he played a mix of old and new tracks that burned bright. As much as I like drum and bass, I've been bored by most of the D&B DJs I've seen loately -- they're all chasing after the same small pool of records every month so they all sound the same. It's really nice to see someone take some chances to bring out the peculiar energy the best tracks have.

Terrence was returning to Iowa City after having to cancel his last scheduled appearance due to his ear problems. And I think I speak for everyone here that he gave us at least twice the show to make it up to us. He even brought a big box of mix CDs and gave them all away.

Gabe's was as packed as I've ever seen it for his set, and there were 250 sweaty crazies totally going for it down front for his entire set. With Terrence you always get all the food groups of DJ'ing -- mixing, scratching, tricks, and killer tracks. But more than that TP on the decks is just like TP in person -- generous to a fault, honest, and someone whose mother must have taught him to always try to make everyone he touches feel special. It's hard to even write about TP without sounding corny, because we've all been marketed fake sentiment so often that we are uncomfortable around real deal. The fact is that he touches people with his music, straight up.

And it's impossible to exaggerate how much Terrence's appearances here have meant to the local scene. Of all the 'name' DJs that have come here, he's the one who has been the most supportive of what we do here. From doing in store appearances, to radio shows, even down to the point of subscribing to and reading our local mailing list. He's been a true friend to Iowa, and we hope he remains a frequent visitor.

And his in store Friday was remarkable, not so much because of the music (which was great) but because the whole time he was spinning he was talking non stop to people at the counter. When he gets a head of steam up on a subject he's positively testifying. The last person I've heard speak who was as articulate and positive as Terrence was Jesse Jackson, and I think TP can give him a run for his money.

So the bottom line is: Iowa Love TP, and Saturday night, he loved us all right back. And isn't that how it should be?

Terrence Parker's Newletter
April 17, 2000

Greetings Cats!

1st - I want to thank Tom, Dave, and everyone with Renegade Rhythms for inviting me out to spin at Zoot Suit in Portland Oregon this past Saturday. People came from as far as Canada to experience the TP vibe, and I want you to know that I am very grateful for all of your support. I had an excellent time with everyone, and I especially thought it was cool to see that Tom's mom is so into the scene. I am really looking forward to coming back out to Portland because I can feel the honesty in their appreciation for the music. You cats have been added to my list of favorite cities to play!

:-)

2nd - I want to thank everyone who came out to TONIC last night. It was real cool to see cats from the age of 18 to 50 out on the dance floor at the same time, enjoying the same vibe. Usually, I only experience such generational unity at clubs in Europe. To see it in my HOME at TONIC was extra special for me.

3rd - I want to apologize again for the problem with the lights. With the changes from Velvet to TONIC, my goal is not to create a DARK atmosphere on the dance floor as is the case in so many of the clubs in and around Detroit. One of the cool things that sets HOME TEAM SUNDAYS apart from other club nights is that you can see everyone enjoying themselves with each other as they embrace the vibe of the music. As I've said before, we still have a few bugs to work out. I know I can speak for everyone at TONIC when I say that we appreciate your continued support.

Finally, I want to let all of you know the details of what I call my BIRTHDAY FESTIVAL. This Friday (April 21st) will be my 32nd birthday. I will also be celebrating 18 years as a DJ, 12 years as a recording artist, and 7 years of running my own label (INTANGIBLE RECORDS & SOUNDWORKS). On Saturday, April 22nd, I will be DJing at DOCKLAND in Muenster Germany. I've been spinning there now for five (5) years, and think it's appropriate that I celebrate my birthday there. I am not sure, but I think my homies and Dockland resident DJs CUT MASTER JAY & DJ STEFFEN will be spinning also. If you would like more info, call the DOCKLAND INFO LINE at (dialing within Germany) 0251-60-301, (dialing outside of Germany) +49251-60-301.

Then on April 23rd, the TP B-Day celebrations continue during HOME TEAM SUNDAYS at TONIC (29 south Saginaw Street in downtown Pontiac). For more information please call 1248-334-7411 or 313-601-9290. You can also check out the website at www.TONICDETROIT.com.

Unfortunately, I don't think the WEBCASTING from TONIC will be in place in time for this coming weekend. But don't worry because it's coming soon!

For Classic TP Mix CD # 9, please contact Renegade Rhythms.

Coming SOON:
TP/HOME TEAM SUNDAYS T-Shirts
CLASSIC TP MIX # 10 - Prelude to Summer Madness 2000

I'm looking forward to seeing you cats this weekend!

peace & respect,

TP

Terrence Parker Lights up Portland
April 16, 2000

Terrence Parker thrilled and amazed his first Portland crowd last night when he took over the turntables. His funky grooves kept people dancing for three hours except when his scratching left the closest five rows of people awed to a jaw dropping stillness. To say Terrence tore it up, is a rank understatement. At one point in the evening, he layed down this fat latin groove, then he scratched for 16 bars (like a drum break), and then he dropped it right back to the latin groove without dropping a beat. He tantalized and surprised the audience with the way he controlled the mixes' tone and dynamics -- spurring them forward to dance with more energy. For every moment of the evening, TPs creativity and energy created landscapes of sounds that brought people to their toes, and smiles on their faces. He controlled the evening's energy like a maestro. "He [TP] is the only one that can make me sing Madonna!" one happy party goer (Erin) exclaimed. As for me, I will listen to him spin Madonna any time he wants. His work on the turntables is an awesome experience.

TPs' dj skills were only matched by his friendliness, as he happily chatted with people after the show. He had to catch a flight in three hours to make a show at his residency (TONIC) the next evening, but that did not seem to bother him.

Stay tuned as Renegade Rhythms will bring this awesome talent to the rest of the world (either as a webcast or an archive). Join our mailing list if you want to keep updated on our events.

Calendar Update
April 12, 2000

Greetings cats!

Unfortunately, TP & Friends Night at Science here in Detroit scheduled for Saturday, June 17th has been canceled due to situations beyond my control, and beyond the control of Linda G. She and I will work together on a future TP booking.

By the way, there's a nice article about Linda in the April issue of MIXER Magazine!

It also looks like I will not be spinning at Government on Wednesday, May 30th in Toronto Canada.

peace & respect,

TP
