THIS RECORD WAS MADE IN HONOR OF DETROIT DJ LEGEND KEN COLLIER WHO PASSED AWAY A FEW YEARS AGO DUE TO COMPLICATIONS RELATED TO HAVING DIABETES. PORTIONS FROM THE SALE OF THIS RECORD WILL BE DONATED DIRECTLY TO THE AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION IN THE NAME OF KEN COLLIER. When I originally released this record, my goal was to make the world more aware of how important Ken Collier was to the Detroit Scene. I put the TAXI CAB remix of "Love's Got Me High" on this EP because Ken was a HUGE reason as to why this record was such a big record here in Detroit. Often times, when we as Detroit artists release music, it gets appreciated far more OUTSIDE of Detroit, let alone outside the United States. But "Love's Got Me High" was a huge radio hit here in the city of Detroit. Since the original release of the TRIBUTE EP in 1996, there have been many articles written by journalists throughout the world about Ken and his many accomplishments and contributions to Detroit and the world. I want to know if you cats out there have been paying attention. TP's Word On The Time To Shine Party Greetings Cats! I want to apologize to Greg of Biokidd Productions, and all of my friends and fans who were disappointed that I did not appear at the TIME TO SHINE Party last night in Detroit. I want to make it clear that my not showing up for last night's event was my fault entirely! PLEASE DO NOT HOLD BIOKIDD PRODUCTIONS RESPONSIBLE. I alone take full responsibility for what happened. It's always been a pleasure for me to perform at Biokidd events. Greg and his crew have always been very professional and accommodating towards me. We are discussing a POSSIBLE "make up" performance in November. IF THIS DATE IN NOVEMBER GETS CONFIRMED, I WILL MAKE A SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION MIX CD, AND GIVE AWAY 100 COPIES THAT NIGHT. What Happens to the Money From Shake's Benefit Party Hello everyone! 100% of the door money goes to Shake. NONE OF THE DJ's ARE GETTING PAID. WE ARE ALL DJing For FREE in honor and out of respect for the urgent needs of our friend. I believe the cost is between $7 & $10 dollars for entry. Mr. Al. Oldham would no more about the exact amount for entry. Please forgive me for not knowing this information. I have not DJ'ed a set at Motor since January of this year so I am not aware of the exact amount for entry. Furthermore, I want to make it clear that I, TERRENCE PARKER cannot and will not take any credit for the planning or preparation of this event in any manner. I know that many people have assumed that I organized this benefit for Shake because of my other charitable contributions in the past. If anyone deserves the TRUE credit for taking the LEAD role in putting this event together in honor of our good friend Shake, it's AL Oldham, DJ T-1000. He simply asked me if I would like to participate, and I quickly said YES. My focus has been on preparing an awesome set to honor and pay tribute to my friend Shake, and on spreading the word so that Shake will have a packed house and leave with PHAT POCKETS this Saturday night. This Saturday, September 2nd, I am spinning at the Summer Spirit Festival in Niedergoersdorf/Jueterbog Germany (near the city of Berlin). My set time begins at 2AM. The Euphoria Mix CD! Greetings Cats! I have received several e-mails from many of you asking how to purchase the Euphoria Mix CD. This is a special project that Steve Crawford and I put together to celebrate our first night of Euphoria with those who came out to share the vibe with us. In other words, this CD was ONLY available to those who came out to Karma Night Club on August 27th. We made and gave away 100 copies of this special CD. We do not have anymore at this time.

Helm Benefit For Anthony Shakir FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: ALAN OLDHAM AND TERRENCE PARKER, FIRST TIME ON THE SAME BILL, HELM BENEFIT FOR ANTHONY SHAKIR: SATURDAY, SEPT 16TH AT MOTOR DETROIT. DETROIT-- Anthony Shakir just may be the Detroit Techno legend that you've never heard of. Although his profile and eclectic releases for the German International Deejay Gigolos label and his own Frictional imprint may be low key, make no mistake, the man has been around since the beginning. He had a track on the compilation that started it all: 1988's seminal "Techno: The New Dance Sound of Detroit", the album that defined a movement and launched the international careers of many Detroit legends. Recently, as reported by New York City-based magazine Mixer, Mr. Shakir was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Medication for the condition is incredibly costly, and like most musicians, Shakir, affectionately known to us as "Shake", doesn't have any insurance. In his capacity as part-time Techno reviewer for Mixer, Alan Oldham (known amongst the cognoscenti as DJ T-1000) saw the write-up in Mixer (mentioned as part of its DEMF coverage) almost before anybody and decided to do something to help his longtime friend; a benefit party. "I immediately had the idea to use whatever influence or audience I had to help Shake. I'm not insured yet either and I'd hope that if anything happened to me, God forbid, someone would do the same for me one day. The folk music guys do this kind of thing all the time, why not us ?" Oldham then enlisted the help of two key friends: Motor booking director Jon Ozias and another longtime peer, Detroit House Music legend Terrence Parker. "Jonnie was incredibly helpful in giving us a night at the club, and (Motor owner) Dan Sorbyl in turn was very generous in pledging all door profits to Shake's medical fund", Oldham says. "As for TP, I've always counted him as a true friend and respected him as an incredible DJ and even though we've shared airplane rides to Germany and Miami together and crossed each other on the DJ circuit, it dawned on me that we've never played the same bill ! So it's a first. House and Techno together. The two foundations of electronic music." It all comes together on Saturday, September 16th, 2000 at Motor in an event that Parker named "Can You Handle The Truth ?" (referring to the true, steadfast nature and outsider status of these Detroit underground legends). DJ T-1000 (in a rare Detroit club appearance) and TP rock it Detroit-style in the main room all night long. In the lounge is house music veteran Buzz "Bangin" Goree. Needless to say, there will be no guest-list for this event; the admission price is for a good cause.
The nature of the music business demands that it be about us, us, us, all the time; our self-interests, our semi-celebrity status. I get sick of myself!
