Time Line Conclusions

Rand and Nynaeve access the Choedan Kal roughly three days after the seige of Tar Valon; roughly three days after Elayne convinces the Borderland army to advance (thirteen Aes Sedai in that group); roughly eleven days after Perrin and Masema Travel to cover ground on the Shaido. "She could feel it. That much of saidar being drawn to one spot was a beacon that any woman in the world who could channel would feel and locate," Cynade mused. Clearly the use of the Choedan Kal will have a big impact on the Seige of Tar Valon because every Aes Sedai involved would feel that channelling and wonder at it. It may motivate the Aes Sedai to unite behind one Amyrlin. Elaida's record is spotted by Alviarin's influence and by her diplomatic and military failure with the Dragon Reborn. Egwene's record is equally spotted with diplomatic failure, and for bringing war to Tar Valon by tricking Aes Sedai with Suane's and Logain's lie.

To make matters in the White Tower more complicated, Egwene's army will arrive approximately ten days after Talene's confession. Will that be enough time to completely obliterate the Black Ajah? Perhaps... Robert Jordan will spend quite a bit of time advancing this story line in book 10 since it ends nearly two weeks before Rand's and Mat's story line ends. How this thread in the pattern plays out will have major consequences for the rest of the plot line.

From the time line, it becomes obvious that much of book 10 will be dedicated to advancing Perrin's story line since Perrin has a major battle looming. It is difficult to see how the use of the Choedan Kal will affect Perrin's storyline since it is used approximately 11 days after they Travel to make up distance on the Shaido. Perhaps, the event will only be a curiosity for them.

Interestingly, the access of the Choedan Kal will affect all plot lines that involve channellers in some way. Clearly, some plot lines will be affected more than others. It will be curious to see how the Seanchan react to its access. Militarily, the Seanchan may realize that they do not stand a chance right now. Especially if they learn about Saidin's cleansing. The Seanchan military commanders will have received reports from the Sul'dam about a large amount of the One Power being used many miles to the north. It is doubtful that any damane could more accurately place where Choedan Kal's usage at Shadar Logoth. Tbe Seanchan commanders will be worried about that amount of the One Power being against their armies in Amadicia. Their military advisors may not realize that all Rand has to do is access the Choedan Kal to destroy the Seanchan while rings of channellers shield him against assault. A similar strategy worked at Dumai's Wells against the Shaido and against the Forsaken at Shadar Logoth. More likely, they will think that the army that disappeared in Murandy somehow has accessed a huge amount of Saidar. The Seanchan will fear the amount of the One Power used.

According to my time line, the Choedan Kal are accessed one day after Mat leaves Ebou Dar. This will be the same day that the Windfinders will be wreaking havoc on the Seanchan damane resources. The access of the Choedan Kal combined with the Mat's kidnapping of Tuon and the Windfinder uprising will divert and delay the Seanchan invasion of Illian.

The access of the Choedan Kal may play right into Elayne's hands. The Borderland armies will want to investigate because the Aes Sedai in the camps will be alarmed. The armies approaching Caemlyn would then be diverted to the west to deal with the invaders. The only question will be, who will lead that army. If Elayne play her cards smart, she will Travel to Arathelle, Pelivar, and Aemlyn and convince them to Travel to Caemlyn. With a decent size force to protect the city, no Andoran would want to destroy the capital trying to seize control, they will want to defend Andor against the invading army. Unfortunately, they will not be able to do that without Elayne's support. Elayne could strangle their supply lines and remove her opposition by starving them in Winter. So the only choice these armies will have to stop the invaders is to follow Elayne's lead.
